Tom Holland will not be on social media for the foreseeable future. The 26-year-old Spider-Man actor has taken a break to watch over his mental health, he explains in a video on Instagram.
"I've taken a social media break for my mental health because I find Instagram and Twitter too over-stimulating and overwhelming," Holland tells his 67.7 million followers.
"I get into a downward spiral when I read things about myself online and it's very damaging to my mental state. That's why I decided to take a step back and delete the app."
Holland made the video primarily to promote the platform stem4, which helps teens with their mental health through apps, among other things. "After all, there's still a stigma on talking about mental health," the actor believes. "On the contrary, we should not be ashamed of it, although I know this is easier said than done."
