The Spice Girls Released A New Music Video

Spice Up Your Life is celebrating its birthday!

Good news for everyone born before 1990 and for all Gen Z'ers who think everything was better in the late nineties and early zero's. In many ways it wasn't - the Internet was expensive and slow and you couldn't make calls at the same time, we didn't have smartphones, and this emoji still existed :-). And we're not even going to talk about the hugely embarrassing and unhealthy beauty ideal - but in some areas it was. After all, between 1996 and 2000 we had the Spice Girls, making the late 1990s the best period in recent history.

The group never officially broke up but has only met sporadically since 2000. There is hope that this year will be another one of those sporadic moments: as it is 25 years since the release of Spice Up Your Life, the British girl group's second album.

The single of the same name was an instant hit, the Spice Girls managed to knock Elton John's 1997 Candle in the Wind (the ode to the perished Princess Diana) off the top of the charts. The iconic music video will undoubtedly have helped with that.

The record label's special anniversary should not go unnoticed. In addition to the music being re-released - on cassette tapes as well as vinyl, including a picture disc), the music video has also been upgraded. Footage from the original video has been polished and given a new look.

Now fingers crossed that they do get together on stage again soon!
