Disney doesn’t seem to be slowing down any time soon when it comes to adapting classic animations into live-action features. According to Deadline, an adaptation of 'The Aristocats' is in early development with the studio’s live-action team, with Will Gluck and Keith Bunin penning the script.
The film is based on the 1970 animated pic, which followed a family of Parisian felines who learn they are set to inherit a fortune from their owner. When the owner’s jealous butler kidnaps them and leaves them in the country, they must team up with a smooth-talking tomcat to try to make it back home before it’s too late.
Peter Rabbit director Will Gluck and Onward screenwriter Keith Bunin will pen the new script for Disney, with Gluck also serving as producer. It's still unclear whether this pic will have a theatrical release, or will head straight to streaming. While the project is billed as “live-action,” it will still include subtle animated elements, just like the studio’s 2019 remake of Lady and the Tramp. As long as we're looking at actual cats and not the disturbing human-feline hybrids in 2019’s Cats, we should be fine.
