Well-Known Actors Doing Their Own Stunts

Usually, actors are replaced by stunt doubles, but lately they are starting to do their own stunts. They want their characters to seem more credible so are willing to put themselves in harm’s way. They are trained in martial arts, hand-to-hand combat, and gymnastics and seem to have no fear of carrying out these amazing stunts.

Here are actors who perform the majority, if not all, their own stunts:

Jason Statham- Crank

From day one when he walked in front of a camera, Jason has lived to do his own stunts. Not only has he become one of the most dependable actors on the screen but in the action-packed film Crank, he is in front of the camera racing a motorcycle down the streets of L.A. In another scene, he’s hanging 3,000 feet above the ground. When asked if he has trained to hang from a chopper, his response was, “How do you train to hang out of a helicopter? You just go and do it.”

Charlize Theron- The Old Guard



Charlize has created a career in a series of roles in action films, showing she can be a true badass. From the days of Mad Max: Fury to Atomic Blonde, she has shown us all she can throw a mean punch when needed. While filming The Old Guard for Netflix, Theron was so into the character she received many injuries doing these stunts. After production ended, Danny Hernandez, the movie’s fight coordinator, told Insider she had injuries on her left arm. He believes she is on a scale of with Keanu Reeves when it comes to stunts.

Adam Driver- Rise Of Skywalker


Whether playing the leading role or a villain, Driver is well-known for taking his roles very seriously. In Star Wars; The Rise Of Skywalker, he played Kylo

Ren and managed to do all his own stunts. Eunice Huthart, stunt coordinator, said that Driver is as good as any stuntman, in fact, his stunt double never even put on the costume.

Jackie Chan- Rush Hour



There is no doubt that Chan is known as a stunt legend and actor. He is also very well-known for his martial arts and action choreography. Not only is he known for his stunts but also for designing them as well. The 1998 film Rush Hour was so popular it created two sequels. His many stunts span decades. When it comes to sliding down the side of a skyscraper or roller skating at high speeds under trucks, Jackie Chan is the only one for the job!

Keanu Reeves- The John Wick Trilogy


While promoting the John Wick Trilogy film on Today, he revealed he was responsible for 90% of the action on the screen. That is a huge percentage for the hard-hitting stunts throughout the entire John Wick franchise. He is incredibly committed to doing his own stunts because he wants authentic action on the screen.
