If you come to visit a part of the world like Thailand, it stands to reason that you will want to jump around. Thailand is home to many islands, and you might want to try and enjoy as many of them as you possibly can. Island hopping is not easy, though, so to help you make sure the process is a bit less confusing here are some tips to help you go about island hopping more easily.
If you have time, take the bus
While it can be cheap enough to go from one island to the next using air, taking long-haul buses is more fun. It is even cheaper than airfare, and it is also going to open your eyes to some amazing scenery along the way. It is also a good time to rest and recharge as you think about going from one part of the country to the next.
Always know where you want to go
You should always take some time to research each of the islands that make up Thailand. Knowing where you want to go, or what activities you wish to undertake, can be very important if you want to make sure the whole experience is satisfying. While you might focus on the larger islands like Kon Phangan and Phuket, you should be open-minded regarding the islands you will visit.
Get used to taking ferries
If you are going from one island to the next, take the ferry. These run for most of the day and can be an easy way to get from one island to the next. It is always a good way to make sure you can get around from island to island quickly and cheaply. Avoid flying from island to island, as it is needlessly risky and it will cost you more than it would to simply take the ferry.
Keep an eye out for local events
If you go to each island you wish to visit, keep an eye open for the events taking place. You could arrive during an event or a festival, or some kind of cultural celebration. This is worth keeping an eye out for as this is when Thailand can come to life. If you want to see what each island is like, as each island can differ from the last quite drastically, be sure to try and travel when local events and celebrations are taking place.
