What Are Some of the Most Used Words this Year?

If you spend a lot of time in conversation with other people, especially strangers, you will find that language can become quite widespread. There are terms that you might not have heard a few years ago that are prominent today. With that in mind, then, what are some of the most commonly used terms and words that you will hear in 202? What words are most commonly used this year?

Crypto

Ah, the latest fad. Crypto – or cryptocurrency – is one of the most commonly used words in 2022. It is the modern version of the stock market or the .com boom – everyone wants to get in on the ground floor of the next big make-it-rich scheme. Therefore it is common to hear people regularly talking about cryptocurrencies in public. Get used to it – even if you do not like it, crypto is not likely to be going anywhere anytime soon.

Cannamom

This is a term you might not hear if you do not live in North America. It essentially is a term used – either in endearment or in a derogatory sense – for mothers who use cannabis (small amounts, mind) to deal with the stress of being a mother in the modern world.

Many frowns upon such an idea, but it is a common thing – cannabis usage, especially in NA, is becoming extremely commonplace – yes, even amongst mothers of all ages!

Zennial

This is a rather odd term, a hybrid mix between a Millennial and a member of Generation Z. It is someone who was born between 1992 and 1998, and they tend to have a happy mix of interests between the generation that came after them and the generation that came before. Whilst most generations have a pretty gaping hole in their interests and cultural ideas, Zennials are believed to be more in the middle between two different trains of thought.

GOAT

No, not the animal – the greatest of all time. Most commonly used in a sports discussion i.e. ‘Lionel Messi is the GOAT’, or ‘LeBron James might be close to the scoring record, but Michael Jordan is still the GOAT!’

Most people who do not get this think that goats are now seen as some deified animal in western culture. As funny as that would be, it’s more to do with a quick acronym for legendary quality.
