The Effects Of Waking Up an Hour Earlier

Twenty-five minutes to shower, get dressed quickly, and head out the door. Is this what your morning ritual looks like, simply because you cherish every extra minute in bed? And do you wish you could do something different - start quietly, with time for breakfast - but don't know how? Set the alarm an hour earlier.

But if you do like it, you're probably sold. Because that extra time you take for yourself in the morning feels like wealth. You can make yourself a big breakfast, meditate for ten minutes, quietly read the newspaper, prepare yourself for what the day will bring, take a shower while singing along to some nice music, and make a healthy lunch to take to work...

And when you arrive at your workplace afterward, it feels like you own this day. You did not leave in a hurry, the workday does not feel like something you just have to do but like something you chose. You experience peace in your head as well as in your body, and that feeling lingers throughout the day. Even when something stressful has to happen (a tough meeting, a big job that has to be done), you experience calmness and have more confidence in a good outcome.

Now you're maybe thinking, "Yeah, but what about my sleep? The beauty of getting up early(er) is that you get tired again sooner. It becomes easier to go to bed on time - and thus get up on time the next day. A circle that takes a little effort to enter (the first time you have to get up an hour earlier), but which in no time becomes the most natural thing in the world.

At the time, every fiber in your body may resist - but try it, even if it's only once. If you don't like it, then you may snooze forever until you are just in time to leave, every day.
