In spite of the fact that Alex hadn't expected his wife to take the day off, he was glad she did. Her presence was vital to him.
Over the last few months, he'd experienced a lot, and all he wanted to hear was her soothing voice telling him everything would be okay. The fact that everything would turn out fine was not apparent to Alex.
