Puppy Gets Returned For 11th Time To Same Shelter Until Staff Realizes Why

Dropped Off At The Shelter

The shelter was shocked when a man brought in a three-week-old puppy. They questioned him, but he simply told them that his dog gave birth to five pups, and they decided to keep four.

So this poor little pup what the only one that remained unwanted, and over time, it seemed to become a curse.

An Adorable, Friendly Pup

Cooper was a very friendly puppy. He adored the attention and easily got along with the people at the shelter. So it was easy to understand why they were so concerned about his abandonment.

They thought there had to be more to the story than his initial owner led on. Maybe he was sick, and they didn’t want to admit it.

Extensive Checks

With that assumption in mind, the staff at the clinic had Cooper checked by a vet. They did a range of tests, and in the end, they concluded that Cooper was healthy.

After that, the staff could do nothing more than believe that the poor pup was just unlucky. Cooper was put up for adoption the very next day.

Love At First Sight

A young family came into the shelter, and they instantly fell in love with little Cooper. They decided to adopt him, and after completing some paperwork, the staff was happy to send him off to his new home.

They thought they would never see the sweet pup again, but they were in for a surprise.

Three Weeks Later

A mere three weeks had passed before the husband returned, with Cooper following behind him. He told the staff that he had to put Cooper up for adoption again.

Nobody that worked at the shelter understood why it happened. Their little girl was so excited about getting a dog. What could possibly have changed?

No Plausible Reason

The man didn’t give a logical explanation when he was questioned about it. He simply told the staff that it wasn’t a good fit and that Cooper was taking up too much of their time.

It wasn’t even close to being a good excuse, but the staff decided not to question the matter further. They took Cooper back, wondering what the real reason might’ve been.

Another Attempt

Two weeks later, Cooper was put up for adoption again. And for a second time, he got lucky. He was picked out above the rest and quickly made his way into the home of the new family who promised to take care of him.

The staff at the shelter were happy for him, but they still wondered why he was brought back the first time.

Another Return

Two weeks later, Cooper was back at the shelter yet again. The staff heard another excuse as to why his new parents couldn’t keep him and had no choice but to put him back in his cage.

Their suspicions were starting to rise. Cooper was a friendly, well-behaved pup, so why did they keep bringing him back?

One And A Half Years

Over a period of a year and a half, Cooper kept getting adopted and being brought back. It was almost as if it was becoming a habit.

Every second week he’d get adopted, and within two weeks, he’d be brought back. It was disheartening, and the staff started wondering if he’d ever find a home.

Eleven Adoptions And Returns

In total, Cooper was adopted and returned eleven times. It just didn’t make sense. When he was at the shelter, there were no problems at all, so why did all these people keep bringing him back?

It was impossible that they were the only ones to blame. Yet they kept giving meaningless excuses when they returned him.

One Excuse After Another

The staff at the shelter couldn’t find out what was wrong, especially not when everyone was lying to them. Their excuses even contradicted one another. Some said Cooper was aggressive. Others said he was too timid.

It was his last owner that gave the most plausible reason for his return. They said Cooper wasn’t very trusting, and he seemed unhappy.

A Sad Process

It was true. The staff had seen it with their own eyes. Cooper used to be such a lively dog, but each time he was put back in his cage, a bit of the sparkle he had in his eyes would fade away.

Over the year and a half, he’d changed from a happy little pup to a sad little dog. But the shelter wanted that to change.

The New Trainee

Just before Cooper was returned for the eleventh time, a new trainee called Sarah joined the shelter. She was training to be a veterinarian and dog trainer, so she was volunteering at the shelter for two months.

What the rest of the staff didn’t know was that she might’ve been Cooper’s last resort.

Falling In Love

When Sarah saw Cooper for the first time, it was love at first sight. The other staff members told her his entire story, including the fact that he was returned eleven times, but that didn’t scare her off.

Sarah was determined to help the sad pup return to his former glory.

A Few Days Later

Sarah adopted Copper and brought him home to her parents. The family was ecstatic about the new addition, but Cooper was acting strangely. He just sat in one spot. But with the help of their other dogs, they managed to help him break out of his shell.

Over the next few days, everything was going well. But when the family woke up one day, Cooper was missing.
