Husband Discovers His Late Wife's Blog After Her Tragic Postpartum Passing

How Is That Possible?

Finn struggled to focus on what he saw on the screen in front of him through bloodshot, tearful eyes. How is it possible that he never knew about this?

He stared in disbelief and desperately wanted to speak to his wife about what he found. But she was gone forever and he would never get the opportunity to.

Tragedy Struck

On that fateful day, Finn came home to a cold and empty house. His beloved wife was gone and he knew that his life would never be the same again.

He felt like he would never be happy again and the pain felt like a physical pressure on his chest. His whole life had changed in one fell swoop.

What Now?

His head was spinning after all the crying he had done that day. He stumbled into the empty, quiet house. He kept hearing the words “she’s gone” in his mind.

His newborn daughter moved in his lap as he sat down with her. He was completely lost and had no idea how he was going to do this without his wife.

In Disbelief

He had no idea what to do next. What he wanted most was to wake up and realize that this was all a nightmare. He could not stand the pain.

How was he going to raise their daughter alone? He was in shock, unable to believe what had happened that day. stunned and kept seeing her face in front of him. The look on her face the last time he saw her alive haunted him.

Sweet Baby Girl

His new baby girl, Penelope, lay in his lap quietly. She looked so calm, the opposite of the storm that was raging within him, and he wondered whether he would ever know peace again.

He sat quietly with his baby on his lap for what felt like an eternity before he got up and took her to her room.

The Nursery

He almost broke down when he entered the nursery. His wife’s knitting project was still sitting there as if she was coming back to finish it. He gently lay Penelope down on the little mattress in her cot.

He stared at the beautiful, sleeping little face in front of him. More than anything else, he wishes that his wife could see their lovely little daughter.

The Discovery

When he left the nursery, he headed for the kitchen for a painkiller. It was his only chance of getting a little sleep and he desperately needed the rest.

Walking passed the lounge, a little light caught his eye. He had no idea of the shock he was in for. Soon, he would question everything he thought he knew about his wife.

They Were Happy

Finn and Angela met in college, where he was studying IT and she was doing her honors in literature.

All it took was one kiss at a party for Finn to know that this is the woman he was going to marry. They were inseparable from that night and went on to spend nine blissful years together.

She's Pregnant!

A couple of years into their marriage, Angela told Finn that they were going to be parents. Finn was over the moon and he couldn’t wait to be a father.

They started planning for the big day and wanted everything to be ready for the arrival of their little girl. Then Angela started feeling ill and became concerned about the pregnancy.

Difficult Pregnancy

Angela’s pregnancy was problematic and she had many health issues as the months passed. She had always been healthy and fit but her body was not dealing well with the pregnancy.

She had terrible morning sickness and ended up in hospital for weeks at a time throughout the pregnancy. The couple told themselves that they just had to get through the pregnancy and then everyone would be fine.

Getting Ready

While she was sick in bed most days of the week, Finn did everything in his power to get the house ready. He painted the nursery pink and built a crib.

He did everything in his power to care for his wife, and to prepare for their first child. The months were passing fast, and they couldn’t wait to become parents. But when the big day arrived, Finn’s world came crashing down around him.

In Only A Few Hours

It was supposed to be the happiest day of their lives, but it quickly turned into a living nightmare. Finn did everything he could to help his wife. He rushed her to the hospital and she was taken for an emergency C-section.

It was all a blur. Finn sat beside his wife for hours feeling sick to his stomach with nerves. Eventually, he heard his baby daughter’s cries.

There She Was

After nine difficult months, Penelope was finally brought into the world. But as soon as she was born, she was rushed to the neonatal ICU. That was the last time Angela saw her baby.

Angela was placed under 24 hours of bed rest before she was allowed to move or meet her baby. Finn stayed by her side, thinking that the worst was over.

Meeting The Girl

Before they knew it, it was 24 hours later, and Angela could finally meet the little girl she had already fallen in love with. She and Finn were finally going to go to the neonatal ward to see their baby.

Finn was by his wife’s side, helping her out of bed when it happened. As soon as she was on her feet, her face twisted into an odd expression. Suddenly, she went limp in Finn’s arms.

She Was Gone

Just one day after their baby was born, Finn lost his wife. The doctor said that Angela had suffered from a  pulmonary embolism and sadly, she lost her life.

She was only 28 years old. Finn couldn’t believe that she never even got to hold their tiny daughter. Suddenly, Finn was all alone with a newborn baby in his life.

Going Home

That evening, the drive home was one of the most painful things Finn had ever experienced. His daughter was in her car seat in the back while he drove through the quiet streets of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

It felt like all the light had been sucked out of his life. He didn’t feel like he could go on without Angela. This was supposed to be the best day of their lives.

Empty And Cold

When Finn walked into his home that night, he knew that nothing would ever be the same again. The house he’d shared with the love of his life felt empty and cold.

It felt like it would never hold happiness again. The pain in his chest threatened to squeeze his heart into smithereens. The life he knew was gone and replaced by a new one.

Dizzy

He stumbled through the foyer, his head dizzy after crying for so many hours straight. The same words echoed in his mind: she’s gone.

He took a seat in the dark of his living room with his daughter in his lap. She squirmed as her father stared into the darkness. He had no idea what he was supposed to do now. He had no idea what was coming his way.

No Idea What To Do

He couldn’t decide if he wanted to eat or sleep. More than anything, he wanted the pain to disappear. He wanted to wake up from the nightmare his life had turned into.

He didn’t know how to go into this on his own. He stared into space, thinking about everything that had happened just hours earlier. He could still picture the last glance he got of his wife’s face. That strange expression on her face.

Calm

His baby girl, Penelope, lay in his lap sweetly. She was quiet and calm, the complete opposite of what was going on in his head. He wondered if he would ever experience peace of mind again.

It felt like hours had passed before the new father looked back down to his newborn child and found her fast asleep in his arms. He slowly rose from the couch and made his way to the nursery.

She Never Would

His heart nearly fell to pieces when he walked into the room. The jersey his wife had been knitting was still on a desk in the corner. She was going to finish it once she got home. But now, she never would. He walked slowly toward the crib and placed his baby on the soft mattress.

He took a second to stare down at her. She was beautiful. If only his wife were around to see it. His head was pounding. It felt like it would burst at any second.

The Light

He needed some Aspirin. Walking out of his daughter’s nursery, he headed straight for the kitchen. He needed pain medication and a few hours of sleep if he wanted to get through the following day.

But as he walked past the lounge, his red, burning eyes caught a little blinking light in the distance. He was about to learn something about the woman he’d loved for so many years.

Her Privacy

It was Angela’s computer. She had always refused to let him near it. “It has confidential stuff on it. You don’t see me snooping through your journals, do you?” She would laugh.

He had always respected his wife’s privacy, but now, he just couldn’t resist. He slowly made his way over to the computer.

An Unfamiliar Site

When he moved the mouse, the screen quickly turned on and revealed what she had last looked at. He was on an unfamiliar site. He looked around for a bit, but eventually, he knew what he was looking at.

It was some kind of blogging site, and the computer was open in his wife’s feed. But then he saw a tiny envelope at the bottom of the screen.

Notifications

He clicked on it, only to find that it was her notifications tab on the site. She had hundreds of likes and comments. “What the?” He opened them and found his wife’s blog.

She had spent hours making it look a certain way. She had been crafting amazing stories and weaved tales that were better than any he had ever seen before. Finn couldn’t help but read her blog.

Her Stories

All along, she had been posting little stories about herself and Finn. She told her followers about the pregnancy and the difficulties that came along with it.

Her last post was the night before she went into labor. She spoke about how excited she was, and how she couldn’t wait to meet the tiny human inside of her.

Reading Everything

Finn was a sobbing mess as he read the beautiful stories she had written. It was clear that she loved her husband and their unborn baby more than anything else in the world.

Finn was overcome with emotion. “Well, I guess it’s over then,” He said and hovered over the ‘delete account’ button, but as he was about to press it, he stopped himself.

A Thought

Suddenly, he realized something. Penelope was going to grow up without a mother, and this was the perfect thing to keep around. This way, Penelope could forever read about how much her mother truly loved her.

Finn was surprised to find how many followers his wife’s blog had. So many people were invested in their lives.

A Small Piece

Keeping the blog would be the perfect way to hold onto a small piece of his wife. She was gone, but she would never be forgotten.

Luckily for Finn, as time passed, everything became a little easier. His wife was gone, but he learned how to deal with the pain. He loved her more than he could put into words, but his heart healed.

Best Friends

As the years passed, Penelope grew into the perfect little girl. She is sweet and bright, just like her mother. Finn told her stories about her mom, and they had pictures up all over the house.

Despite not knowing her, Penelope loved her mother as much as she once loved her. In her heart, she knew that her mother was her first-ever best friend.
