4 Simple Ways to Reduce Frustration

We get it, life is tough. You are angry. Something has upset you. But if you walk around in an angry daze all day, you are highly unlikely to come out to the other side in a better mood. Instead, it is better to immediately work towards accepting the situation and then prepare your mind to come up with a solution. Use the following tips to help calm yourself down when angry.

Go out for some exercise

Whether it’s as simple as a walk or a run or you go and play a sport, or even take part in something like a boxing sparring session, you can find that exercise immediately eases tension. You will feel much less upset. Why? Because exercise increases endorphins releases serotonin, and can also help you to take your mind off the problem at hand so you can either overlook it, move on, or find a solution.

Pick melodic music

If you are looking for a way to calm down, do yourself a favor and look for some music that can help you to calm down. Apps like Spotify have lots of calming music, or you can look for lo-fi music on YouTube. Where possible avoid lyrics and anything too intense or dramatic. Classic music, lo-fi beats, and other related music can be a good way to simply help your mind to reset.

Try and listen to your anger

When you feel angry it is easy to just roam around in a bad mood. It is hard to overcome. If you find yourself being angry, try and ask yourself what the cause of it is. And, crucially, try to determine where you think you could improve. Instead of just repeating the problem or your emotion over and over, think about the anger. What brought you here? How can you overcome it? Think about solutions, not problems.

Speak to someone about the issue

Bottling up that anger is not healthy, either, and sometimes you just need to vent. Find someone who can understand the situation and speak to them about how you feel. Often you can find that speaking to someone about your feelings can help you to release tension. Another benefit is that by saying your thoughts out loud, they stop living in your head and thus can make more sense – or, crucially, show you how much nonsense you are carrying around in your head!
